Asubuhi ya Jumanne iliyopita Barcelona walithibitisha kumuajiri Gerardo Martino kama Meneja mpya wa timu hiyo.

Na hii ndiyo statement waliyoitoa Club ya Barcelona juu ya uteuzi wa kocha mpya.

FC Barcelona has reached an agreement to sign Gerardo Martino as the new first team manager for the next two seasons. The agreement is still pending the drafting and signing of his contract.

The schedule for his trip to FC Barcelona, signature of his contract and official presentation will be announced in the next few hours.

I've signed for three years. I will travel to Barcelona tomorrow, but will not go with the team to Munich for the friendly against Pep Guardiola's Bayern on Wednesday.'

The 50-year-old Martino is coming off a win in the Torneo Final with Newell's Old Boys in the Argentine Primera Division. He also had a successful run the with the Paraguay national team from 2006 to 2011.

Barcelona should also be stabilized by the announcement. Martino can get right in there and start diagnosing the club's problems at the back and how to solve them. He also has quite a task ahead in making sure Messi and Neymar will thrive in the same attack.

He's an unknown to many football fans and will therefore be under the microscope early. However, given the support within the club, Martino will likely prove to be a shrewd hire.
