Wayne Rooney Has Burned His Last Bridge
Via b/r
Wayne Rooney has reportedly backed himself into a corner at Manchester United, where his teammates are beginning to turn against him according to David Maddock and Alan Nixon of the Daily Mirror.
The wantaway forward continues to court the attention of Chelsea, who saw a second bid rejected on Monday, and the disruption to United’s preseason preparations is beginning to anger some of the club’s veterans. Maddock and Nixon provide the details:Sources close to the Old Trafford club have explained there is an increasing antagonism towards the England striker, with senior players “unhappy” at his stance, which they see as a blatant attempt to strengthen his own position without any regard for the unsettling effect it is having on the team.Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra are all named by the Daily Mirror article, while the Daily Star also claims United stars are becoming increasingly unimpressed with Rooney’s behaviour, which is threatening to overshadow Ferdinand’s forthcoming testimonial on August 9.
Rooney’s desire to quit Old Trafford was initially revealed at the back end of last season by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and Jose Mourinho has since confirmed he wants the England man at Chelsea.
The tabled fee reached £25 million on Monday but United plan to make the transfer as difficult as possible for Chelsea, who are widely viewed as a major threat to their Premier League crown this season.
A United spokesman addressed Chelsea’s offer, saying in the Daily Mirror: “A bid was received yesterday [Sunday] and immediately rejected. Our position remains that he is not for sale.”

Luis Suarez is prepared to take legal action against Liverpool in a bid to force through his protracted move to Arsenal.Jeremy Wilson wa The Telegraph naye akaandika ya kwake.
The Uruguay forward believes the Anfield club are reneging on a clause in his contract that he thinks entitles him to leave Anfield should a Champions League club make a formal offer of over £40million — a step the Gunners have already taken.
Liverpool are disputing the clause, insisting they are obliged only to inform Suarez of the offer.

Arsenal also hoping for progress on Suarez this week - they don't regard £40m+1 bid as dead yet
Gazeti la The Guardian nalo likanukuu haya.
The Guardian has the latest from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers on the Luis Suarez saga:
"I was surprised," said the Liverpool manager of Arsenal's second bid for Suárez. "I've got to say I've always associated Arsenal as a club with class and so there was a wee bit of a game there. For us, it's about moving on and doing our own work. There will come a point where they understand our position. Obviously they have an interest and they put that interest in with two bids which were nowhere near what the player is worth. That's within their right. There is a market in football for players but from us the message is constant. We do not want to sell."Daily Mirror nalo likaibuka na haya.
The Daily Mirror, however, have a report about Suarez's intentions as the situation drags on into the final month of the transfer window:
Luis Suarez will try to force his way out of Liverpool this week.
Suarez and his advisors will turn up the heat on Liverpool as they grow more determined to engineer a £40m move to Arsenal.
They are considering legal action, taking their argument to Premier League arbitration and even putting in a transfer request as the saga threatens to turn nasty at Anfield.
